Easy and straightforward pizza sauce. Cookless and quick to prepare.
Ingredients:
- 1 can (28 oz) whole peeled tomatoes
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 teaspoon dried basil
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
Instructions:
Drain the canned tomatoes and transfer them to a blender or food processor. Pulse until the tomatoes are finely chopped, but not pureed.
Heat the olive oil in a large saucepan over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes, or until fragrant.
Add the chopped tomatoes to the saucepan, along with the dried oregano, dried basil, salt, and black pepper.
Stir to combine, then bring the sauce to a simmer. Reduce the heat to low and let the sauce cook for 15-20 minutes, or until it has thickened to your desired consistency.
Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the sauce cool slightly. Taste and adjust the seasoning as needed.
Once the sauce has cooled, use it immediately or transfer it to an airtight container and store it in the refrigerator for up to 1 week.
